This year, staff at MMP Architects participated in LITE’s Alternative Christmas Hamper initiative. This program distributes hampers to the Christmas Cheer Board, Winnipeg Inner City Missions, and Sam’s Christmas, but instead of donating food items, money is collected and then used to purchase food and gifts at local businesses. These local businesses include, among others, Neechi Foods, Food Connections Project, and the Native Women’s Transitional Centre – all organizations that also employ people who have difficulty obtaining and keeping regular jobs.
The generous donations from MMP staff allowed LITE to purchase 2 full Christmas hampers for families on our behalf that included dry food goods, canned goods, as well as a complete Christmas dinner! LITE’s alternative hamper program provides a great way for individuals and organizations to make their donations go even farther to help those in need during the holiday season.
It’s not too late to still make a donation for this year’s Christmas hamper drive. If you or your place of employment is interested in the LITE Alternative Christmas Hamper initiative, please visit their website here.
