CONTRACTS MANAGER / ADMINISTRATOR —Winnipeg, MB
POSITION OVERVIEW
MMP Architects is seeking an experienced Architectural Technologist to support the development, coordination, and delivery of architectural projects through all phases of design and construction.
The successful candidate will be technically proficient, highly organized, and comfortable working collaboratively with architects, interior designers, consultants, contractors, and clients. This role requires strong construction knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to translate design intent into coordinated and technically sound construction documents.
Experience with institutional, healthcare, commercial, multi-family residential, or renovation projects would be considered an asset.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and Technical Documentation
· Prepare architectural drawings and construction documents from schematic design through construction.
· Translate design concepts, client requirements, and project standards into clear and coordinated technical documentation.
· Develop plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, and specifications.
· Prepare existing-condition drawings based on site measurements, record documents, and field investigations.
· Support the development of code-compliant building assemblies and construction details.
· Maintain drawing quality, consistency, and coordination throughout the project.
Building Information Modelling
· Develop and maintain accurate architectural models using Revit.
· Follow the firm’s BIM standards, drawing conventions, model-management procedures, and quality-control requirements.
· Coordinate architectural models with structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, landscape, and interior design information.
· Identify and assist in resolving model conflicts, incomplete information, and coordination issues.
· Support the preparation of drawing packages at established project milestones.
Code and Technical Review
· Research and apply applicable building codes, accessibility standards, zoning requirements, and industry standards.
· Assist with building-code analysis, occupancy classifications, construction requirements, fire separations, exiting, spatial separations, and barrier-free design.
· Support the preparation of code summaries, life-safety plans, and permit documentation.
· Coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction and assist in responding to permit-review comments.
· Identify technical risks and bring unresolved issues to the attention of the Project Manager or Architect.
Consultant Coordination
· Coordinate architectural documentation with subconsultant drawings, specifications, and design requirements.
· Review consultant submissions for alignment with the architectural design and project scope.
· Track coordination items and follow up with consultants to support timely resolution.
· Participate in interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
· Incorporate consultant information into architectural models and construction documents.
Quality Assurance and Quality Control
· Participate in internal drawing and model reviews at established project milestones.
· Check drawings for completeness, constructability, coordination, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with office standards.
· Assist with maintaining project checklists, drawing standards, technical resources, and detail libraries.
· Address review comments and document revisions in a timely and organized manner.
· Support continuous improvement of the firm’s technical and BIM practices.
Construction Administration
· Assist with reviewing shop drawings, product data, samples, and other submittals.
· Prepare supplemental instructions, proposed changes, change documentation, and responses to requests for information.
· Attend site meetings and conduct field reviews under the direction of the Project Manager or Architect.
· Prepare field-review reports and deficiency lists.
· Review construction progress for general conformity with the contract documents.
· Maintain organized records of site observations, correspondence, submittals, and construction documentation.
· Assist with project closeout, record drawings, warranty reviews, and occupancy documentation.
Project and Team Support
· Work closely with the Project Manager to support project schedules, deliverables, budgets, and staffing requirements.
· Identify missing information, coordination concerns, or schedule risks early.
· Participate in client, consultant, and contractor meetings as required.
· Support junior team members and contribute to a collaborative studio environment.
· Manage assigned work independently while communicating progress and challenges clearly.
Qualifications
· Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Building Technology, or a related discipline.
· Minimum five years of relevant architectural or building-industry experience preferred.
· Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
· Working knowledge of construction documentation, building systems, materials, and detailing.
· Familiarity with applicable building codes, accessibility requirements, and construction standards.
· Experience coordinating architectural documents with multidisciplinary consultant teams.
· Strong written, verbal, and graphic communication skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.
· Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
· Eligibility for membership in a relevant architectural technology association is preferred.
Assets
· Experience with healthcare, institutional, commercial, multi-family residential, or complex renovation projects.
· Experience working with existing buildings, including field investigation and documentation.
· Familiarity with the Manitoba Building Code and related provincial requirements.
· Experience with contract administration and construction-phase documentation.
· Familiarity with specifications, NMS formatting, and construction procurement processes.
· Experience with BIM coordination, model auditing, clash detection, or Revit content development.
· Knowledge of Bluebeam, Microsoft 365, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar collaboration platforms.
· Experience working on phased, occupied, or operationally sensitive projects.

Compensation
The anticipated salary is approximately $75,000 per year, with final compensation determined based on experience and qualifications. A competitive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth will also be provided.
